Because Zipp had not released MTB wheels before the 3ZERO MOTO, they could " reinvent the wheel" , so to speak, and go their own way. Instead of the traditional box-shaped rim cross-section, Zipp uses a single-wall design inspired from motorsport, which proved to be ideal for enduro and trails. The cross-section of the 3ZERO MOTO rim marks the fundamental difference to previous wheels and allows the fastest trail riders to fly over the roughest terrain with unprecedented speed and control. This design combines lateral stiffness, torque efficiency, radial compliance, shock absorption, durability and ride quality, which all add up to one thing: more speed.
