The Colnago World Cup SL 105 bike is a pro budget crosser. The pro' aspect is the World Cup Frameset, built with the same geometry as their world championship-winning Prestige frameset. The difference here is the frame is fabricated out of 6000-series taper-butted aluminum. They're able to get the same hexagonal down tube thanks to hydroforming. When combined with a slightly flattened top tube, it's easy to reach down and shoulder the bike for a run, and light enough that you won't slow down when hoofing it.

The aggressive geometry is great for slashing through twisty cross courses, with a bottom bracket high enough to let you pedal through just about any corner you dare. The angles give you plenty of room to slightly shift your weight in order to balance yourself in any condition.

The shifting is actuated by Shimano 105 5800 components. The eleven-speed shifters, derailleurs, chain, and 11-28 cassette work in harmony to feel effortless. When mated to the FSA Omega 46/36 cross crank, you have a fairly wide range of cross gears, where you'll neither be under geared nor over geared regardless of the terrain.

Braking is handled by Avid BB5 Platinum brakes and 160mm rotors. This cable-actuated disc brake has one pad moving for simplicity, but as that somewhat reduces braking power, Colnago moved to a larger rotor to make up the difference.

The Colnago Artemis wheels are built with both discs and cyclocross in mind, so they'll both hold up well under heavy braking and have the durability to survive the roughest terrain you can imagine treading on. Formula six-bolt disc brake hubs are mated to Alex rims via Sapim spokes. The Kenda Kwicker K932 32mm wide tires are designed as a no frills all-condition tire, equally at home on the smooth and the rough.
